On my bookshelf now
The following books are now on my bookshelf at Wolfson College, ready to be quoted and translated in excerpts over the next months during my little research on the comparability of Italian Fascism and German National Socialism:
– Dark Continent, Europe’s 20th Century, by Mark Mazower
– The Oxford Handbook of Fascism, ed. by R.J.B. Bosworth
– Fascist Italy and Nazi Germany, Comparisons and Contrasts, ed. by Richard Bessel
– L’Italia fascista e la Germania nazista, di Alexander J. De Grand
– Educare all’odio: „La difesa della razza“ (1938-1943), di Valentina Pisanty
– Common Destiny, Dictatorship, Foreign Policy and War in Fascist Italy and Nazi Germany, by MacGregor Knox
– The Anatomy of Fascism, by Robert O. Paxton
– Fascists, by Michael Mann
– Hitler 1889-1936: Hubris, by Ian Kershaw
– Anmerkungen zu Hitler, von Sebastian Haffner
– Mussolini, by R.J.B. Bosworth
– Mussolini’s Italy, Life Under the Dictatorship, by R.J.B. Bosworth
N.B. I have just found out that at the Cambridge University Library, books written by Benito Mussolini and by one of his most faithful admirers Adolf Hitler are NOT easily to be found by searching the otherwise all-encompassing virtual „Library Search“, but that they are rather confined to the corridor, i.e. to a catalogue of those books which the CUL is contiuing to regard as something not really to be taken seriously, something like second-best trivialities, say Mickey Mouse, Jerry Cotton and the like…
As for consolation, a nice mid-18th century traduction a work of Plato is accomdated there too…..
